Running time: 114 minutes

This year we celebrate strong, talented women who shape the film industry with four must-see movies.

Winona Ryder leads the charge in this big-screen adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s seminal novel as Jo; a passionate young writer in 1800’s New England who, with her three sisters, strives for more in the face of Civil War.

Why we love it:

Alcott’s story of four sisters is a seminal work of early feminist literature, and a manual on how to be your best self. Director Gillian Armstrong captured the essence of the novel perfectly with her adaptation, casting Ryder and the phenomenal Susan Sarandon alongside Kirsten Dunst and Claire Danes.

A story of strength, persistence and self-belief, Little Women is a story for every woman, of every age.

Come along to Eastleigh Sewing Centre and meet members of the Women’s Institute before the film!
